Had a tour last night (25th October 2012) that featured traditional food from Arequipa, Peru. The tour was well organised, offered a hands on experience with food preparation, as well as tasting, and was a great opportunity to meet people. The location in Parque de Amistad featured lots of food types and the tour offered a full gourmet experience. I would thoroughly recommend it.

I went to Lima in late May for a culinary adventure in one of the hottest gastronomic cities in the world and had a terrific, memorable time. A significant contributor to my singular experience was Delectable Peru Gourmet Tours. Prior to coming to Lima, I worked closely with Ericka to tailor 3 1/2 days of culinary experiences for me and my friends. Ericka is a dream to work with, and was impressively well-connected and knowledgeable about the Lima food scene, proactive, and resourceful. She pulled together an itinerary comprised of dinners in top Lima restaurants such as Manifiesto and Amaz and personal time with the chefs, demonstrations and visits at artistan bakery El Pan dela Chola and top coffee roaster Tostaduria Bisetti, and market tours. I first saw a flyer in the South American Explorers Club while visiting Lima and took a chance... smart move! Let me just say that Erika La Madrid, proprietor of Delectable Peru Gourmet Food Tour, is friendly, professional, and cares about each customer's food experience. Peru is a foodies food paradise and Erika has the connections with many of the top chefs in Lima. This allows for a great behind the scenes look into how many of the wonderful foods are prepared before sitting down to sample them. Although she didn't have a tour signed up during my short window, she personally took me on a food tour that was one of my highlights while in Lima. Thank you Erika! I will be travelling back soon and will take another food tour for sure.

I wanted a broad food tasting experience of Peruvian flavours and was delighted by Ericka's guidance. Getting to meet a famous chef like Gaston Acurio was very special. A few new foods like Cuy and sea urchins were a treat. Exploring the local markets in both Lima and Cusco was fantastic. Best bread in over a year! I also enjoyed the local Museo of Chocolate and the Museo of Pisco. Mmmmmmmm!
